Imagine your kids are playing around and laughing or your pet is doing something really crazy like sitting still and model-like or maybe they are together, just children and pets being kids!.

Wouldn’t it be nice to pick up your camera, then in a split-second switch it on, set correctly for the scene before you and click - captured memories forever. Then have the ability to upload the files to a photo lab to get the best results for your efforts.

As a Certified Professional Photographer, It’s my job to capture all of these great occasions and moments in our lives and preserve them forever. As important as that is, I think it ’s equally important to teach people to shoot the best-looking image as possible with their own camera or smartphone. A few of the things to keep in mind when you have your camera in your hands:

  1. Look for the direction of the light (if time permits) and try to avoid deep shadows in their faces - keep a nice catch light in the eyes

  2. Have your camera set up so the onboard flash doesn’t pop up every time - it’s very annoying and usually doesn’t render a good result

  3. Make sure your lens is clean, dust and fingerprint free - to avoid blemishes on your photo
