Your chosen photographer will help you by showing you flattering poses and helping you relax in front of the camera which will make such a difference on your big day. It’s so important to choose your wedding photographer carefully. You will be spending time with him or her on one of the most important days of your life. You want your personalities to be compatible and the engagement photo session is the perfect opportunity to choose a photographer with a style you love. Spend a little time before choosing a photographer to think about why you like a particular style of photograph. Scour Instagram and wedding blogs and take note of photographs that wow you. Take note of his or her personality too! Chat on the phone and meet in person for a coffee if possible. If you are a quiet, introspective couple you are going to be mightily annoyed having a bouncy, vivacious chatty photographer around you all day! Conversely, if you are bubbly and outgoing a funny and lively photographer might be a great choice for you! It really will make for a more relaxed wedding day and your engagement session is a perfect dress rehearsal.
Speaking of dress, what should you wear to your engagement photo shoot? I like to recommend natural, soft colors. The naturals translate into timeless and classic engagement photos. It’s also a great time to experiment with your wedding day makeup! A chance to see what does and doesn’t look great on camera.

Where to take your engagement photos can be a very personal decision. You may want to return to the spot where you first met or first kissed. Perhaps a favorite restaurant, coffee shop or park?
